Anneli Boon

A mixed media paper artist. born in Karelia, Finland, where her roots still remain and providing much of the inspiration for her work . She moved to England in 1970 where she later studied art at St Albans Art School and Hertfordshire University and was awarded BA (Honours) in art and design. She completed a 6 month "Artists in Education" Training Course in 2000. Before studying art she designed and created individual knitwear.

Her work is often influenced by her own feelings and sensations together with atmospheric and seasonal qualities of nature, which, in her work, are reduced to their basic elements.

In the past few years she has specialised in paper collage art. Her work is composed by the layering of observations, memories, thoughts, imagination and dreams, as well as the materials of paper, paint and glue.

As a result of much experimentation with materials and techniques, she has developed a highly personal style of creating distinctive forms of composition, harmony and mood with asymmetrical balance of colour, shape and spatial relationship.

She creates exiting, personal images, but also encourages the viewer to visualise their own interpretation.

She has been exhibiting since 1993 and a range of work has been commissioned and sold nationally and internationally to private collections. A number of commercial organisations including Wessex Water (82 pieces), Nokia, Microsoft, KPMG, Global Crossing, Center Parcs, the Ramada Hotel Group in London and the Wetherspoon Pub/Restaurant in St Albans have hired and purchased her work.
