Penny Jane Gilbert

From art school Penny Jane Gilbert took up a career in advertising design, working her way from studio junior to the first female Brand Design Executive of the company. Studio work in those days was pre-computers which meant skills such as accurate design work and visual presentation were always produced by hand 'on the board', to a very high standard.

Once her children were of school age, she returned to advertising on a part-time basis but the digitalised world left her cold. So four years ago she decided to go back to her grass roots and re-ignite her passion for art.

Penny's work is naturally influenced by her graphics background and perspective as a designer. She particularly enjoys figurative and portrait painting and hopes to make an inital impact using strong composition and visual balance to connect with the viewer.

She has sold her work at exhibitions in Herts, Beds and Bucks and has recently ventured in to producing some limited edition giclee prints and greetings cards.
