Stella Hunt Stella is a retired chef living in her home town in Hertfordshire and is the mother of two sons. Retirement gave her more time to pursue her passion for painting and she spends most days at home working in her purpose built studio. She first took up painting thirty years ago as a light relief from caring for her elderly parents. At first, Stella was content to produce frameable pictures, which proved to be quite profitable at the time - however, this did not fulfil her and she soon realised that she had to move on. After attending a foundation course, she became interested in the qualities of paint and, in turn, colour and textures, "I have found that paint takes on a life of its own when applied to papers, or indeed any surfaces. This idea is my main interest today. I have studied the works of artists such as Cezanne, Picasso, Kadinsky, Van Gogh and Graham Sutherland (and artists of our time) and find the work of Van Gogh and Picasso of particular interest. Currently, I am studying the work of Ivon Hitchings My studies have also included different art movements including Impressionism, Expressionism, Cubism, Chinese Art and, currently, Abstract. I am very taken up with the experimental work my studies involve, finding each new theme or project an adventure of discovery for me." |
