Directions to Walkern Gallery Walkern Gallery is situated in the picturesque Hertfordshire village of Walkern, approximately two miles from Stevenage with it's excellent road and rail links. Legend has it that the site, on the banks of the River Beane was chosen by the Devil, who every night moved building materials intended for a new church at the neighboring village of Boxbury! It was also the home of the last person in England to be convicted of witchcraft, back in 1711. Jane Wenham did however receive a Royal Pardon, along with a pension, and went on to live to a good old age.
