Maria-Luisa initially trained as a Graphic Designer at Fairfield School of Art Croydon London, studying Photography, Life Drawing, Painting, Graphics and Sculpture and there found her true vocation, Sculpture. She has also completed a course on Life Sculpture at The University of Hertfordshire. Her main interest is the human form and head, bringing character, feeling and texture to her work. She also loves making pots and vases, giving them an Ethnic and Sculptural feel.
She is a member of The Herts Visual Arts, The Stevenage Art Society and the Hertford Art Society and has exhibited at various galleries in Hertfordshire. In 2011 she was awarded The Stevenage Arts Festival Roy Mugaridge Award from an Exhibition that included sculpture, photography, drawing, painting, drama and music at The Boxfield Gallery, Stevenage, for her Sculpture "Apache". In 2016 she was awarded The Mayor of Hertford Award for Best 3D Exhibit at The Hertford Art Society Exhibition for her sculpture 'The Queue of Life' Bus Queue, featuring 7 day to day figures in different stages of Life's events, waiting at a bus stop. The work also included small card prints for each piece that had a picture and story of who they were.
